On Wednesday January 6 at North Shore High school the Key Club hosted their single service project entitled: Compassion In Action. This event was the brain child of North Shore key Club President Elias Mastakouis and supported by the entire Key Club membership. The goal of this event was to bring community awareness and educate the audience on substance abuse while providing message of help and hope to all. Many Kiwanis dignitaries attended this event to include the New York State Governor Forbes Irvine who was so please that the North Shore key Club hosted an event to show support for the Governor’s Project 2015-2016. Other North Shore Kiwanis Dignitaries who attended to show support were SDPLG Larry Benedetti, NS K President Roger Hill and DPP Douglas Barnaby. Key Club LG. Amanada Madenburg and LG. Rohit Mathews were also in attendance for the event. The program was dynamic and included keynote speaker Anthony Rizzuto, the founder of the FIST(Families in Support of Treatment Organization). Mr. Rizzuto and his team of gifted professionals addressed topics on substance abuse including Prevention, Treatment, Recovery and Advocacy. Directly following this program a Resource Fair took place encompassing professionals from over 12 substance programs as well as representatives from prominent self-help groups from Nassau and Suffolk Counties.
